Pole vault runs in the family here. Off The Grid was founded by Warren Miller — a former Longhorn who grew up on a runway, coached by his father Scotty, an 18'4" vaulter who competed at the 1992 U.S. Olympic Trials.
Most schools get a pit, a couple of poles, and a coach splitting time across ten events. Vaulters who want more end up driving hours or figuring it out alone. So we built the facility we wished we'd had: a real runway on a quiet piece of property outside Granbury, a full rack of poles, and coaching that treats the vault like the technical event it is.
Today Off The Grid is a year-round club — athletes from their first jumps to 15'6" seniors, home meets on our own runway, and club trips from the Texas coast to the National Pole Vault Summit in Reno.

Founder & Head Coach
Warren vaulted for the University of Texas and Texas Tech, placing at multiple Big 12 Championships with a PR of 17'9". Coached by his father from the start, he jumped 16'2" as a high school junior. He still jumps — and he's willing to prove it during your lesson if you ask. Sometimes even if you don't.

Coach
Scotty Miller cleared 18'4½" and competed at the 1992 U.S. Olympic Trials. In three decades of coaching he's developed vaulters at every level: a Texas state champion and a four-time state qualifier at Tolar High School, and collegiate athletes at Texas, TCU, and Abilene Christian — including two 18-foot vaulters in his own family.
